Siblings three- Mama watch me

I first met Mary when our two oldest were in class together at preschool and became good pals. I have loved getting to know her better in small snippets ever since, and keep hoping we can connect more. And I cannot tell you how many times Emma has talked to me about her friend Molly’s hair, how many times she wished to have curls like Molly’s. Last December she went so far as to add “curwy hair, wike Mowwy’s” to her Christmas list right along with the requests for LEGO blocks and baby dolls. She has good taste, my girl – good taste in hair and good taste in friends.

The Collins family has gained a new member very recently with the arrival of baby Jonas, so to capture this season Mary braved an outing with big sister Molly, newly appointed big brother Riley, teeny ten-day-old Jonas. . . and me! Being able to photograph this new sibling trio was great fun for me for a number of reasons – one being these children are absolutely GORGEOUS, and another being the opportunity to watch the roles young siblings take on, the unspoken language between them. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m fascinated by observing them play and argue and love from behind the lens.

Thank you Collins Family – I have loved working on these images for you – enjoy.

Riley strikes me as such a thinker for being so young - there's a lot going on behind those eyes

I love the illustration of siblings here- big brother completely unphased by baby brother's cries
