There is just something about little guys in the summertime – the dirt-smeared cheeks, mosquito bites too numerous to count, the bottoms of their little feet black for days – just the mere sight of them tells a tale. The Kown brothers, Maxwell and Elliott, were no exception, on a recent Saturday morning of play at their grandparent’s place tucked back in the beautiful hills and fields of Brentwood, TN.
I’ve known the boys’ mama Robyn*, for years – she is honestly one of the most genuine and fun people I’ve ever met – she is also one of the last people I would have ever imagined raising boys, especially one in-particular who is completely infatuated with of all things, construction equipment. She is a natural though, and seeing her in action reminds me of how we are often capable of so much more than we believe of ourselves.
Elliott, thank you for sharing your sweet sweet smile and those eyes with us, and thank you Maxwell for schooling me on tractors, mulch and “fwont-woaders.’ I can’t wait to watch you both grow from behind my camera.
*In addition to chasing her boys (and amazing husband Charles) around all day, Robyn also owns a fabulous stationary company with her sister Dana, called Paper With Purpose. Definitely check them out.

I loved this sign hanging on the side of the Kown's shed - from entrepreneurial days of years past

The white chair we shot with had once been the boys' great-great-grandmother's chair. I'm glad I learned this bit of information after we had started or else I don't think I would have been brave enough to ask to use it.

There is something incredibly sweet about a boy and his grandfather out for a ride on the tractor

I couldn't decide which I liked better - the Elliott smirk or the Elliott smile
