Unexcused Absences

Yes, I have definitely been piling up the detention slips in the ol’ blog posting category over the past couple of weeks. To my faithful readers, my sincere apologies, to all seven of you. My lack of recent posting is not for absence of photographs or thoughts – as my sleepless brain can attest to – but for the sheer fact of it being summer and around here we’ve been busier than Christmas season, trying to squeeze in enough fun to last us through next winter. And I’m talking simple, no frills kind of fun…

The kiddie pool in the yard. . . rainy day trips to the library. . . the mountain of coloring books on the table without a blank page to be found come September. . . the impromptu “swushy” runs in the steam of the afternoon…

The kind of fun, I pray our kids come to define summer with inside of their memories. The kind of fun that costs little, yet gives enormous returns on our investment – our investment of time, and sheer willingness to loosen up on schedules and routines and all things resembling adult-like behavior. The kind of fun, at the end of the day, we all desire to experience…

So here’s to summer and to all of the simple memories you are creating from your own little spot of the world.

sarahrichmond Hi Heather – thanks so much! I’m glad you are enjoying the season as well. I saw Ryan’s photos of the kids on FB – they are such gorgeous little ones.
